FAQ Before we talk
Questions, answered straight.
The things people usually ask before we start. If yours isn’t here, ask me directly. It comes straight to me.
01All questions
Twelve fair questions.
Cost, timing, ownership, AI, and who you’ll actually work with.
How much does a website cost?
It depends on how many pages you need and what the site has to do. You start with a free homepage mockup, then get a written scope and price before any work begins, so there are no surprises. If the price isn’t right for you, the mockup is still free. Worst case, you keep it. Automation and analytics work is scoped and priced separately.
How long does a website take?
About a week from an approved mockup to a finished site, for a typical small-business website. That’s an estimate, not a guarantee: timing depends on how quickly we settle the mockup and whether your content and logins are ready. I’ll give you a firmer timeline once I see the scope.
What is the free homepage mockup?
Before you decide anything, I mock up your homepage so you can see the direction: the messaging, layout, and feel of the rebuild. It’s free and there’s no obligation. You only move forward if the mockup convinces you it’s worth doing. Send me your link and I’ll start on yours.
Do you do ongoing SEO?
I don’t sell open-ended monthly SEO retainers. That’s the product too many small businesses have been burned by. What I do offer is two bounded plans: Site Care, which keeps the site updated, backed up, and working month to month; and a quarterly Visibility Refresh, where I tune up your Google Business Profile, refresh your service pages for what’s changed, and check performance. Everything in each plan is named in writing, you can cancel anytime, and the honesty line doesn’t move: no one can honestly guarantee rankings, and I won’t.
Can you improve my existing website instead of rebuilding it?
Sometimes a rebuild is the wrong answer, and I’ll tell you when it is. If your site is basically sound, we sharpen the messaging, fix the mobile layout, and repair the contact paths, the three things that decide whether a visitor becomes an inquiry, without starting over. Send me the link and I’ll tell you straight whether a refresh or a rebuild makes more sense.
Who owns the website and accounts when we’re done?
You do, completely. Your domain, hosting, and business accounts stay in your name, and we put ownership of the site files, access, and handoff terms in writing before work starts. Too many small businesses discover their last web person owned their domain or held the site hostage over a bill. I set it up so that can’t happen. You also get plain-language instructions, so you, or anyone you hire later, can keep things running without me.
Where should I start?
With the problem that’s most visible in your business. If people can’t tell what you offer, start with the website. If inquiries slip through, start with follow-up. If you can’t tell what’s working, start with measurement. If you’re not sure, tell me what’s going on and I’ll suggest one place to begin.
Who will I actually work with?
Me. Vitale Signal is my independent practice, not an agency. The person you talk to in the first conversation is the person who writes the scope, does the work, and hands it over.
Will AI send messages to my customers?
Not unless you’ve agreed to it. For suitable tasks, AI can summarize an inquiry or prepare a draft reply for your review. A person stays in control of every customer message, and any account access or automatic sending is agreed in writing first.
Do you only work with local service businesses?
No. I work across industries, from local services to retail, hospitality, and professional firms, and with marketing teams that need practical measurement and implementation help.
Do I need to be in Chicago?
No. I’m based in the Chicago area and work remotely with clients across the United States.
What happens after I send the form?
It comes straight to me. I read it and reply by email, usually with a couple of questions or a suggestion for where to start. There’s no sales sequence and no obligation.
